How to Avoid Buying Counterfeit Products

Working Macbook Computer Keyboard

Customers on enjoy total protection from counterfeit goods since all of our products are sourced from well established distributors in Europe and USA.

If you’re trying shopping out there, there’s a growing risk that the brand you buy online and in the store is actually a fake. This article will guide you on how to protect yourself from fakes from retailers and online shops which may have no capacity to offer the same level of consumer protection as Abanista.

With more and more Ugandans now ordering gifts on online shopping websites, where fast shipping, variety, and easy price comparisons offer lots of convenience. There is a chance that you may end up with a fake product.

The chance of encountering counterfeits can be especially high if you buy through a street vendor from downtown Kampala or a little known retailer or online shop besides the brand or the authorized retailer.

For consumers, the risks of fake goods aren’t just financial—they may also present a threat to your health and safety.

Where as some online marketplaces are bound by a strict anti-counterfeiting policy that prohibits the sale of inauthentic products, still the best protection is to stay vigilant yourself. Follow the steps below to reduce the risk of purchasing fake goods.

How to Avoid a Fake

  1. Check the identity of the seller.

It’s usually best practice to buy electronic items, appliances, gadgets and branded ware from authorised retailers, licensed sellers and genuine brand outlets to eliminate the risk of counterfeit products.

Many manufacturers of original products will supply information on who is selling their original products. Is the store you are buying from on the list of authorized dealers?

  2. Be wary of discounts.

Ask yourself if there is a realistic price difference between the product you want to buy and the price of the product sold by the original manufacturer. If the price is too good to be true, it is most probably true. Even a small discount may be a red flag, since more counterfeiters are charging almost as much as the real thing in an effort to trick customers.

  3. Search other consumers’ reviews.

Use Internet search tools to check whether other consumers have left any good or bad comments about the trader. Read these comments carefully,
and keep a critical eye. Also look for reviews on the product you are purchasing.

  4. Pay attention to the packaging.

Flimsy packaging, Grammatical & spelling mistakes, Flawed fonts, logos, Omissions & mismatch could indicate that the product is fake.

Brands generally put their logos on packaging, not just the products. So if the wrapping looks anonymous, that could be red flag.

Also look for certifications, use-by dates, and attached warranties, which should arrive with the product.

If the product has been opened, is missing a certification or guarantee stamp, if there are no instructions included, there’s a chance it’s a counterfeit

  5. Know the hallmarks of the real product.

Before you make your purchase, get familiar with the product’s appearance, including the brand markings and any unique details.

Many manufacturers of fake products will try to make sight changes in the design and labeling to make their products look as if genuine, forexampe I’ve seen shoes labeled “MIKE” to trick unsuspecting buyers into purchasing them as “NIKE”.

In some cases, you can verify the serial number through the manufacturer’s website. This is common of many original brands today.

The Best Home Appliance Brands in Uganda

With so many available style, feature, quality and technology options, selecting the best appliances for your home can be overwhelming, even if you’re working with a design or building professional. Creating a design plan and conducting informed appliance research before you start shopping can ensure that you create a stylish, functional home for your family and lifestyle while remaining on budget.

  1. Know Your Space

The most basic thing for you to know when shopping for a new home / kitchen appliance is the space your new appliance will go in. Whether new construction or needing to fit an appliance into an existing space you need to know the height and width and depth of that area

  2. Know Your Budget

Have a budget and try to fit the appliance to your budget. As you become more knowledgable about the appliance you are looking for you will have a more realistic idea of what is reasonable to spend.

  3. Know Your Needs

When planning for your new home and kitchen, you’ll also want to take into consideration your family’s lifestyle and design it around the way you live and entertain. Be sure to make notes on not only how you currently use your kitchen but also how you might like to use it in the future. If you like to entertain, consider adding specialty appliances like a warming drawer or ice maker or installing a larger capacity oven. And busy families might want to add a speedcooking oven to save time. Drafting a comprehensive wish list will make it easier to match your needs and wants with appliance features once you start shopping.

  4. Do Some Research

Whether on your own or with a design professional, you will want to know the detailed specifications of the appliance to determine if they will be a good fit for you ergonomically or for the layout of your kitchen. For example, you may want to consider a range or oven with larger time and temperature displays, depending on the size of your kitchen. Or you may find that certain knobs, buttons and other tactical features offer greater accessibility. Reviews left by other users on different online stores can be helpful. If you can’t get these, your wish list will still be helpful in narrowing your search based on the features and specifications on the manufacturer’s websites.

  5. Take Your Time

When you’re buying appliances, its important to choose your retailer wisely. The sales representative you work with should be familiar with all the unique product features across multiple brands to aid you in your selection. Take some time off to do your personal research

  6. Shop The Sales
